There is no disputing that Michael Jackson was a musical genius. He changed the landscape of music forever and challenged artists around the world to be more creative and innovative.
I got it. Kudos to him.
Lest we forget that the man is also a pedophile. Now, I know technically, he was acquitted of the charges. But then again, so was OJ and how many of you still believe he's innocent? MJ paid off countless families in order to avoid possible molestation charges. How is there so much tolerance for such morally corrupt behavior? Why in his death is this all forgotten and forgiven?
And now his death has become a circus. Isn't it about time to put all this back in perspective?
Be sad. Mourn. Do the moonwalk in your driveway. I don't care - let's just not idolize a man that couldn't grasp that his actions with children were totally and completely inappropriate.
Genius aside - he was seriously disturbed and I am more than over the speculations and constant adulations.

After Farrah Fawcett passed away she arrived at the gates of heaven. St. Peter spoke to her: "Farrah, for all of the good deeds you have done throughout your life, the lord will grant you one wish before you enter the kingdom of heaven". Farrah without hesitation replied "I wish the children of the world be safe" "very well" replied Peter. The next day god killed Michael Jackson.
Actually, Michael died the same day as Farrah...
Having grown up with Michael Jackson (we're only a few years apart) I've always had a hard time with his "strangeness". None of us can really imagine what his life or perspective must have been like - living in the public eye nearly his entire life - but we can deduce that it must have led to much of the "weird" behavior. I agree that he never really saw his behavior with those kids as anything but innocent. I'm not convinced that he really did anything sexual, but clearly inappropriate. The fact that he paid off a couple families (actually they are not countless, but countable) doesn't necessarily mean he was wrong, just that he wanted to control the story. If he was really guilty of something truly heinous, I would think that last trial would have exposed it and he would have been convicted. At this point I'm just sad that this guy with so much incredible talent and promise had such a miserable, strange life. I think we all wanted more for him, and were sad to see that slip away as he fell deeper and deeper into the psychosis that ruled the second half of his life.
Eddie - very poignant insight. I appreciate your perspective and I really follow your thought pattern. I do think we all wanted more for him and wondered how it all slipped away from him. And I also think there is a fear there - this same kind of wasteful tragedy will reveal itself in another talent and we will again be rendered powerless to stop it.
